Road race results

Update from Redcar Half that took place 22/9.

After the adjudication and correction to the provisional results Susan Duncan’s finishing time of 1.27.36 was an excellent 2nd LV40/44. This has given Susan qualification to run in an England Masters vest at the event in Swansea next year.

Sunday 29/9 saw 6 runners take part in the Berlin Marathon. Susan Duncan was 1st WAC runner in 3.21.51, followed by John Davidson in 3.23.28, Paul Baker in a new pb of 3.24.17, Steve Kibblewhite in 4.04.13, Mark Bowskill in 4.09.23 and Lesley Bowskill in 4.26.35.

Kieron Summers ran the Barnstaple marathon. No full result available yet but Kieron finished 1st V50 in 2.47.44

Lindsey Clifford and Phil Brett ran the Robin Hood half in Nottingham, Phil finished in 2.24.27 and Lindsey in 3.26.12

The Torbay half was cancelled due to the forecast of severe weather over the course start and finish area on the seafront. This did not stop Sue Dyer and Dawn Kinghorn running their own half in Weston early on Sunday morning. They are hoping that the Torbay race will be turned into a virtual event, which could help the charity organising the event salvage some funds after the cancellation.

Off-Road race results

The Portishead Black Nore 10k event took place 29/9 with 5 WAC runners taking part. Katie Gormley was 1st WAC runner and 2nd SF in 50.17, followed by Marc Robinson in 56.53, Georgie Ford in 57.24, Yvonne Rogers, who was struck by sickness towards the end of the race, in 1.03.34 and Kate Wilson completing her first race after childbirth in 1.19.04.

Not a race but congratulations and thanks to Ian Purnell and helpers for organising the 2024 edition of the Self Navigation half marathon and 8-mile run. The run was much appreciated by the participants and all of them managed to return safely.

Multi Event Results

Last Sunday saw Sarah Weare complete the Tenby Ironman. We can confirm that through the result rolldown process Sarah’s result saw her qualify to take part in the Kona Ironman edition in October 2025.
