Spring certainly came last week but it is going to take a rest for the middle of this week at least. Monday will be cloudy and still 15 degrees but afterwards the range is max 10 to 12 and min 6 to -1. Wind will be easterly backing to northerly moderate to fresh, rain Tuesday and even sleet early Thursday but looks like we go back to sunny intervals for next weekend.
Road race results
No WAC championship races this week, but several large road half marathons took place across the country.
Weston staged its own half marathon, so it was fitting that an excellent run by WAC’s Will Fuller led to a brilliant pb of 1.12.54 and race win from nearly 1650 runners. Will even got to be interviewed on local TV which aired Sunday evening. 2nd WAC man was Ben Haines in 1.24.40 with Darren Stacey 3rd WAC man in 1.24.57.
Ist WAC lady was Sian Roberts in 1.43.12 followed in joint second place by Laura Fricker who was doing the 1.45 pacers job and came in excellently in 1.44.20 ably supported finishing in the same time by Katie Gormley tapering for Manchester next week.
Apologies if we have missed anybody but results do not currently show team.
Also taking place today was the much-delayed March 2020 Cardiff half with over 11000 finishers. The delay does not seem to have done our WAC runners any harm with Alice Smith finishing a fine 7th LV35 in 1.28.21 closely followed in 4th LV50 by Nia Davies in a new pb of 1.28.12and Dawn Kinghorn 3rd WAC lady in 2.18.41.
Rob Robertson was 1st WAC man in 1.28.12 with Gaz Weaver finishing in 1.54.05
Off-Road race results
Taking place on Saturday was the Winding Paths coastal races. Clare Harvey and Sam Walkley took on the thirty mile ultra with Clare finishing seventh lady in 7.16.44 and Sam finishing in 8.31.06 both excellent runs in the heat over that course.
