Weekly forecast
The weather forecast for the next week shows a mostly south westerly airflow with strength ranging from moderate to very gusty particularly on Wednesday afternoon. Monday will be dry but with spells of rain on Tuesday to Thursday with particularly heavy rain on Wednesday. Temperatures will be Max. 17 to 19 and Min. 9 to 13 so continuing to slowly cool down.
Road race results
No road race results that we are aware of this week.
Off-Road race results
Last week we received confirmation of the WFRA 2023 – South Wales Series results with congratulations going to Adrian Noble for winning the V60 series prize.
Saturday saw Sheryl Selway and Darren Stacey take part in the Uphill to Wells relay event in the whole route pair category. They finished the 30-mile West to East route which includes over 4500 ft of climb in 6 hrs 41.49.
Saturday also saw 4 club members take part in the 30-mile route of the Conquest of Avalon event organised by Albion Running. Louisa Ansell, Andy Galey, and Casper Harvey finished in 5 hrs 48.33 and Liza French in 6 hrs 14.44.
Sunday saw the latest race in the Somerset series – The Mells Scenic. A new revised course for the first full event since 2019 due to the pandemic saw Adrian Noble and Hannah Keating take part. Adrian finished in 56.48 and Hannah completed the 8-mile route in 58.33 as 7th lady but no age cats shown in the results.
Sunday also saw the latest version of the popular Self Navigation Half marathon. Thanks go to Ian Purnell for organising and Sarah Ridout and Michelle Lynam for marshalling. There were 2 courses this year with intending distances of 8 and 13-miles with longest mileage we have seen so far being 15 miles and 1500ft of climb with lots of happy runners passing on their thanks for a very enjoyable route.

Championship 2023
A new tab has been added to the website under members/2023 Championship which is a points summary. The latest summary shows the position after the Oldbury 10-mile race.
A link has been added on the points summary page making it easier for you to find the detailed points position and list of the 2023 championship races.
Burnham parkrun on the 30/9 has been added to the list of 5k races to count.

Chris McMillan has posted the dates for the Gwent series events on the Weston Social fb with first event being in Pembrey park on the 14/10.
Chris is happy to handle the administration of entries as last year, please drop him a message if you intend to take part. Confirmation of entry cost to follow.
Prom Run Series 23/24, Christmas Cracker (10/12) and Mendip Muddle (22/10) are all now open for entries.
All 3 races are now open for entries on the Race Nation site.
Prom Run 5/10/23. The first event of the 23/24 series is only 11days away now so to help with the organisation please get your series entries in now and do not forget that there will be no entry on the night with entries for the 5/10 race closing at 9.00pm on Tuesday the 3rd of Oct.
Xmas Cracker If you have friends or family who have always said they want to take part in the Cracker which takes place on the 10/12 this year, then suggest that they sign up now to be committed and have plenty of time to train.
Cracker Beginners group This year we will again be running a beginner/improver/returner group to help people prepare to take part in December. The group will start on the 2nd of October for a 10-week period with meetings taking place on Monday evening and Saturday morning. Please get friends and contacts to message/mail Paul Baker or Rachel Stacey for more information and to register.
The group is open not only to non-WAC members but also to any WAC members who may have been injured or had a lay-off and are looking for support and company to help them back to running.
TWAC
TWAC session this week 25/9/23 is titled ‘Pebble run’ meet 6.50 NT car park at Sand Point
One or two loops of an outstanding course and going at your own pace
Head torch is necessary now and obviously usual trail shoes, appropriate clothing for weather, drink, full Billy kit and cider tokens.
Tuesday Reps/Intervals
Tuesday training now returns to the seafront for the winter. Meet 6.50 at the shelter between the Trop and Revo.
The workout this week will focus on Driving your thigh following on from last week’s arm session.
The Wednesday swim sessions at Burnham-on-Sea pool
Wednesday swim sessions restart this week – Wednesday 30th August, Burnham on Sea Swim & Sport Academy
Time: poolside 20:20hrs, swim 20:30 – 21:30hrs
You need to be a fully paid-up WAC member to access sessions, they can be booked in blocks of 5 (£32:50) or 10 (£55:00) Please contact Margaret Sills for payment details.
Occasional PAYG sessions are sometimes available; please arrange with Margaret before turning up.

Thursday – Group runs from Hutton Moor. Meet in the car park at 6.50. Route will be 4 Bridges.
No separate Group 6 only meeting this week.
