Weekly forecast
The wind will shift to the North from Monday giving a cold Monday night and cooler feel to the weather this week. Winds will be light and variable from Tuesday pm onwards and give max daytime temperatures 9 to 14 and min 3 to 10. Tuesday looks to be a sunny day then cloud for the reminder of the week with spells of rain on Thursday and Friday.
Road race results
Sunday the 23rd saw the London marathons which has been the training focus for over 20 of our runners this winter/spring. Several of our runners had to withdraw before the event and number had to drop out during Sunday’s race, so we hope they all recover quickly.
On a day that saw the second fastest ever male marathon time and a remarkable recovery and victory by Siffan Hassan in her 1st marathon Alice Smith was 1st WAC lady in 3.10.27. Alice was followed by Laura Fricker in 3.12.49, Katie Gormley in 3.27.02, Hannah Keating in 3.34.33 and Julie Bailiss in 3.56.34 all of whom have achieved the time to apply for entry again next year. Sheryl Selway finished in 4.05.38, Sarah White in 4.10.33, Helen Diamond in 4.11.42, Lesley Bowskill in 4.36.40, Tarisa Barker in 4.38.38, Shaleen Summers in 4.45.37, Sam Buzza in 4.45.37, Chloe Garty in 4.47.51, Sarah Ridout in her record attempt costume in 5.02.58 and Sarah Wheatley in 5.05.36.
Rob Mountford produced another excellent pb run to finish 1st WAC man in 2.49.25 and Mark Rush ran his 1st sub 3 in 2.57.58 (both qualifying application times). Kevin Bale ran with an injury sustained at about 10 miles during the race to finish in 3.23.39, John Davidson 3.33.31, Ian Regan in 3.44.58, Bill Green in 3.45.52 and Innes Mackay in 3.49.38
Emma Lane and Clare Harvey travelled a bit further afield to run the Madrid marathon in the heat, finishing together in 4.14.00
Off-Road race results
Social Secretary Georgie took on the trail events company Wye valley trail Ultra on Saturday 22/4. This race is a self-navigation event covering 35 miles with 4400ft of climb and taking in part of the Offa’s Dike range. Georgie finished in 7hrs.40mins.
Julie Monaghan took part in the Tough Runner trail 10k at Ashton Court also on Saturday. Julie finished 3rdV50 in 1.00.19.

Your 2023/2024 membership is now due, and you will have received an email confirming how to proceed. Thank you to the 16 people who renewed during the last 7 days, please renew when you can to make the membership secretaries job as easy as possible.
The AGM is to be held this Tuesday (25/4/23) at Priory school. You will have received formal notice by email. Please look in your spam if you cannot immediately see it.
April Prom Thursday 27/4
Entries for the April Prom run are open until 9.00pm on Tuesday 25/4. There will be no entries on the night.
Championship 2023
The current points position of the 2023 championship is now on the Westonac.co.uk website under Races/handicap races/handicap results 2021-2022
The Langport 10k will not be going ahead this August bank holiday and has been replaced by the Wellington Monument 10k on 17/12/23. The Baltonsborough 5-mile (one of the Somerset series races) has bene added on the 28/8/23 and will be part of the Misc. category. The Prom run dates shown are currently provisional.

TWAC
The Monday evening TWAC session this week 24/4/23 is titled (Bombs Away) Meet 6.50 at the Woodspring Priory NT car park. Social runs in groups of approx. 90 minutes duration. See TWAC fb for more detail.
The Wednesday swim sessions at Burnham-on-Sea pool re-started 4/1
The next block of Wednesday swim sessions at Burnham-on-Sea pool now need to be booked and paid for and payment for the next 10 sessions, started 12th April, becomes due. Numbers limited so please pay as soon as you can to reserve your place.
Wednesday evenings 20:20 – 21:30 Burnham on Sea pool. £55 for 10 sessions (£32.50 for 5 if work takes you away).

We now have the April code for the 10% discount and free postage on orders from Sportsshoes (min order value £50). This code is on the WAC members social fb page for WAC member use only. Please ask Jim, Helen, or Julia if you do not access to fb and wish to put in an order with them. (NB Now includes Brooks shoes again)
We currently have a full set of the yellow club kit sizes available. New members can pick up their kit at training on Tuesday night at Hutton Moor. Come along at about 6.50 or 7.45/8.00 and find Jim Wotton. If you cannot get to Hutton Moor let James or Jim Wotton know and we will see what we can do. Ladies kit comes in sizes 8, 10, 12 etc.
