Weekly forecast
Winds will be gentle and from variable directions all week which will give a settled and sunny week of weather moderate. Max daytime temperatures 18 to 21 and min 7 to 9. There is no rain forecast fo the next week.
Road race results
Sunday 21/5 saw Nia Davies achieve a memorable first for her by representing Wales in the Masters half marathon championships which took place as part of the Chester half- marathon. Nia finished 11th overall in the LV50 category a great achievement in a high-quality field of over 4000 in a time of 1.33.51.
Off-Road race results
Saturday 20th saw Adrian Noble and Guy Bradford represent WAC in taking part in the Cader Idris fell race. Considered one of the toughest fell races in Wales the event takes place in North Wales and includes over 3000ft of climb in the 10.9 miles route. Adrian finished 4th in the V60 cat on 2.06.22 and Guy 14th in the V50 cat in 2.15.47
Saturday also saw 2 members take part in an unusual race where the competitors plan their own route (subject to certain parameters) and see how far they can get away from the prison on Dartmoor in the time they choose from 6, 12 and 24hr options. Sam Walkley and Kimberley Mcloughlin chose the 12-hour event and managed to get 41miles away from Princetown in 10 hours 36 mins and cover 3000ft.
Not a race but Saturday saw 30+ WAC members take part in our own version of race the train. Staring from different points and times the aim is the get to Minehead in time of the last rain homewards. Many of you will have seen some fantastic looking photos with ideal weather and well done to everybody with many people covering 26miles as the made Minehead on time.
Multi Event results
Sunday saw 6 WAC members take part in the DB Max Cotswold 51 tri, over the standard distance of 1500 metre swim, 40k bike and 10k run. Cameron Slater finished in 2.14.04, Kevin Bale in 2.25.54, Toby Andrews in 2.27.47, Kira Thorpe finished 2nd in her V50 age category in 2.35.06, Michelle Lynam in 3.17.00 and Judit Salamon in 3.39.27.

Your 2023/2024 membership is now due, and you will have received an email confirming how to proceed. Thank you to the 9 people who renewed during the last 7 days. A reminder that your EA membership will effectively expire on 31/5/23 and you will no longer be able to claim the 2 discount or other benefits.
May Prom Run
Thursday 25/5/23 sees the last of the 22/23 series Prom runs. Entries are open until 9.00pm on Tuesday 23/5 remember no entries on the night.
The weather looks pretty ideal so why not come down and run or if not with such nice weather the Prom is bound to be busy so Sheryl will need as many marshals as we can get to make sure that the course is kept clear for the runners.

Health Walk Volunteer training
If you are interested in becoming a daytime or evening walk leader, then N-Somerset are holding a course that may be of interest to you.
Thursday 13th July, 10am-1pm. Portishead Youth Centre, BS20 7DD.
We are looking for volunteers to lead or assist with local health walks, help develop new walking routes or provide admin support at walks. Full training and support is provided.
The Health Walks scheme welcomes over 300 regular walkers a week, in and around North Somerset. We have walks in Clevedon, Long Ashton, Nailsea, Portishead, Weston-super-Mare, Winscombe and Yatton. Walks run in the day and evening, and we can also offer support to start new groups.

TWAC
The Monday evening TWAC session this week 22/5/23 is titled (No Hills Recovery) Meet 6.50 at the Uphill beach by parking on Links Rd. Loops on trails and beach for you to run but no hills. – Approx. 90 minutes duration. See TWAC fb for more detail.
The Wednesday swim sessions at Burnham-on-Sea pool re-started 12/4
The next block of Wednesday swim sessions at Burnham-on-Sea pool now need to be booked and paid for and payment for the next 10 sessions, started 12th April, becomes due. Numbers limited so please pay as soon as you can to reserve your place.
Wednesday evenings 20:20 – 21:30 Burnham on Sea pool. £55 for 10 sessions (£32.50 for 5 if work takes you away).

We now have the May code for the 10% discount and free postage on orders from Sportsshoes (min order value £50). This code is on the WAC members social fb page for WAC member use only. Please ask Jim, Helen, or Julia if you do not access to fb and wish to put in an order with them. (NB Now includes Brooks shoes again)
We currently have yellow club kit available in most sizes. New members can pick up their kit at training on Tuesday night at Hutton Moor. Come along at about 6.50 or 7.45/8.00 and find Jim Wotton. If you cannot get to Hutton Moor let James or Jim Wotton know and we will see what we can do. Ladies kit comes in sizes 8, 10, 12 etc.
