Weekly forecast

 

After another wet week we have come to the end of the wet March spell. This week winds will be light to gentle and variable, sunny weather for Monday and Tuesday and sunny intervals the remainder of the week apart from rain forecast for Thursday. Temperatures 11 to 13 max with 0 to 6 minimum.

 

Road race results

 

Thursday 30/3 saw a second March Prom run, this one was to replace the second race that we missed in November. The weather was windy but for many of the runners the rain held off, however for the later runners and the marshals the heavens opened again so thanks to everybody for your help as always. Kieron Summers was 1st WAC man and 1st V40 in 27.35 followed by Cam Slater as 2nd WAC man and 1st SM in 29.09 with Matt Huxtable 3rd WAC man and 2nd SM in 29.15.

Alice Smith was 1st WAC lady and 3rd SF in 32.24 followed by Nia Davies as 2nd WAC lady and 1st FV50 in 32.56 with Hannah Keating 3rd WAC lady in 35.52. Sian Roberts was 3rd FV50 in 38.55.

 

Sunday 2nd saw WAC runners take part in 2 marathons and 2 road half marathons.

 

Michelle Fryer ran the Great Welsh marathon and set a new pb by over 10 minutes finishing in 3.27.55 for 7th lady overall.

 

3 WAC members ran the Brighton Marathon. Josh Harris finished in 3.35.19, Sarah Weare completed 3 consecutive weeks of events finishing the marathon in 4.45.27 with Sarah Ridout completing the marathon in 5.25.07. Janet Pinches ran the 10k at the same venue in 1.28.58

 

3 WAC members ran the London Landmarks half with Rachel Andrews finishing in 1.52.26 and Harry Eades in 1.52.20. Lindsey Clifford ran for the Harvey Hext trust charity finishing time not currently known.

 

3 further WAC runners went to Devices to run the half marathon. Kevin Bale finished 12th overall in 1.24.44, Clare Harvey finished in 1.48.21 with Emma Lane 3rd WAC lady in 1.49.00

 

 

Off-Road race results

 

Sunday 2nd April saw 3 WAC runners take part in the Forest of Dean spring Trail half. Stuart Diamond finished in 1.35.51, followed by Paul Cousins in 1.38.40 and Helen Diamond in 1.55.58

No Multi events of which we are aware.

Your 2023/2024 membership is now due, and you will have received an email confirming how to proceed. Thank you to the 50 people who have already renewed, please take a few minutes to renew when you can to make the membership secretaries job as easy as possible.

 

The AGM is to be held on the Tuesday following London marathon (25/4/23). You will receive formal notice shortly but please add that date to your diary if you have not done so already.

TWAC

 

The Monday TWAC session this week 3/4/23 will meet at 6.50 at Woodspring Priory Nat Trust car park. Session is named ‘Not a parkrun 5k Fell race’. The course will be 5k for you to race, plod or use as a recovery – your choice. Please see TWAC FB for more detail.

 

 

The Wednesday swim sessions at Burnham-on-Sea pool re-started 4/1

The next block of sessions now need to be booked and paid for and payment for the next 10 sessions (starting 1st Feb) becomes due. Numbers limited so please pay a soon as you can to reserve your place.

Wednesday evenings 20:20 – 21:30 Burnham on Sea pool. £55 for 10 sessions (£32.50 for 5 if work takes you away).

We now have the April code for the 10% discount and free postage on orders from Sportsshoes (min order value £50). This code is on the WAC members social fb page for WAC member use only. Please ask Jim, Helen, or Julia if you do not access to fb and wish to put in an order with them. (NB Now excludes Brooks shoes)

 

We currently have a full set of the yellow club kit sizes available. New members can pick up their kit after training on Tuesday night at the seafront. Come along at about 6.50 or 7.45/8.00 and find Jim Wotton. If you cannot get to the seafront let James or Jim Wotton know and we will see what we can do. Ladies kit comes in sizes 8, 10, 12 etc.

Tuesday session – Meet from 6.50pm at the Shelter between the Trop and Revo. Rep/Interval session to be taken by Carol, Sheryl, Nick, Jason, or Jim

 

Wednesday See above– Swimming sessions Burnham pool 8.20 poolside – See above.

 

Thursday – Group runs from Hutton Moor. Meet in the car park at 6.50 route this week will be hills.

 

Group 6 only meet Debbie Vowles in the car park at 6.30.

 

 

Saturday AM session – 8.00am Meet point TBC session to be taken by Jason or Sheryl – suitable for all abilities.
