Weekly forecast
After a fine weekend the coming week promises another unsettled period. Monday looks to be wet with light rain forecast for 24 hours but the remainder of the week shows sunshine and light rain showers every day. Moderate to fresh west to south westerly winds will bring temps of 10 to 12 in the day and 5 to 9 at night.
Road race results
Thursday the 16th saw the first of the 2 March Prom runs (this one counts for the 2023 Championship). Kieron Summers was 1st MV40 and 2nd overall in a time of 27.41, Ben Haines finished in 29.11 and Matt Davies was 3rd WAC runner in 31.21. Alice Smith was 1st WAC runner in 32.23 followed by Hannah Keating in 36.03 and Katie Gormley in 36.58. Nia Davies was 2nd V50 in 37.47 and Sian Roberts 3rd V50 in 39.03
Saturday 18th saw the second championship race of the week the Berkeley 20/20 (20 mile and half marathon this year).
16 WAC runners took part in the 20-mile race most as part of their marathon training with the first 4 WAC ladies winning the team prize by over an hour from the next female team. Many of the runners will have achieved a new 20-mile pb. Susan Duncan was the 1st WAC lady in 2.20.40, followed by Alice Smith in 2.24.32, Laura Fricker in 2.24.48 and Katie Gormley in 2.41.14.
Steve Lovell was 1st WAC man in 2.17.38 followed by Matt Wheeler in 2.20.40 and Stuart Diamond in 2.21.42
The half marathon saw 4 WAC runners take part with Nia Davies being 1st WAC runner and 2nd V50 in 1.29.39 followed by Mark Bowskill in 1.47.42, Julia Withers in 1.57.05 and Mollie Bowskill in 2.18.48
Sunday the 19th saw 3 more WAC runners take part in a road 20-mile race this time the Hullavington 20. Kevin Bale finished 10th overall and 4th V40 in 2.12.53 with Clare Harvey 6th LV40 in 2.50.55 and Emma Lane in 2.52.14.
Sunday the 19th also saw 2 WAC runners travel to the Midlands to take part in the Sherwood Pines 10k and half marathon. Lindsey Clifford finished the 10k in 1.25.29 and Phil Brett the half in 2.29.59.
Off-Road race results
No off-road results that we are aware of this week.
Multi Event results
The last 7 days or so have seen Margaret Sills and Sarah Weare enjoying a warm weather training camp at the Club La Santa complex in Lanzarote. Not being sure that the sessions would be quite enough hard work Sarah decided to also enter the Lanzarote 70.3 that took place on Saturday the 18th. Sarah finished the half Ironman in 7.03.56 with splits of swim 41.54, bike 3.49.10 and half marathon run of 2.19.42.

Prom run Thursday 30th March.
Do not forget there is another prom run in March to make up for the one that we missed in November. The races on the 30/3/23 are still open for entries on Race Nation but please remember entries will close at 9.00pm on the 28/3/23 and there will be no entries on the day.

TWAC
The Monday TWAC session this week 20/3/23 will meet at 6.50 at the top car park Burrington Coombe for the session called 321 Dusty Bin – Following a warm up the Trig point there will be 3 courses of 1, 2 and 3 miles for you to take your choice to run over a 60 minute period. The Wednesday swim sessions at Burnham-on-Sea pool re-started 4/1
The next block of sessions now need to be booked and paid for and payment for the next 10 sessions (starting 1st Feb) becomes due. Numbers limited so please pay a soon as you can to reserve your place.
Wednesday evenings 20:20 – 21:30 Burnham on Sea pool. £55 for 10 sessions (£32.50 for 5 if work takes you away).

We now have the March code for the 10% discount and free postage on orders from Sportsshoes (min order value £50). This code is on the WAC members social fb page for WAC member use only. Please ask Jim, Helen, or Julia if you do not access to fb and wish to put in an order with them. (NB Now excludes Brooks shoes)
We currently have a full set of the yellow club kit sizes available. New members can pick up their kit after training on Tuesday night at the seafront. Come along at about 6.50 or 7.45/8.00 and find Jim Wotton. If you cannot get to the seafront let James or Jim Wotton know and we will see what we can do. Ladies kit comes in sizes 8, 10, 12 etc.

Thursday – Group runs from Hutton Moor meet in the car park at 6.50 – this week’s route 4 Bridges.
Group 6 only meet Debbie Vowles in the car park at 6.30pm
No runs from Hutton Moor on Prom run night.
Saturday AM session – 8.00am Meet point TBC session to be taken by Jason or Sheryl – suitable for all abilities.
