Weekly forecast
The forecast for this week shows that the settled very cold weather will give way to an unsettled period bringing warmer but wetter weather up to Xmas day. Winds will be moderate to fresh westerly bringing temperatures up to 10 to 14 max and 6 to 10 min with rain showers or longer periods of rain throughout the week
Road race results
It had been a long time coming but the second event of the 22/23 5-mile Prom series took place on Thursday night. The temperature started to drop quickly as the sun disappeared and forced us to put in place some coning off for the slippier parts and you may have seen pictures of that part of the prom on Friday morning or of the parkrun on Saturday morning, so we were lucky getting the race completed safely. Thanks to everybody for your help in getting the race on for the 190 senior runners and 17 hardy juniors.
Whilst it was cold this did not stop some great results being achieved by WAC runners who took 6 of the top 10 places for the men and 2 of the top 8 places for the ladies. Chris McMillan had the top result for WAC on the night winning the race and setting a new scorching pb of 25.28 in the process. Kieron Summers was 5th overall and 1st v40 in 27.49 with Ben Haines 6th overall and 2nd v40 in 28.03. Matt Wheeler finished 3rd v50 in 30.24.
Nia Davies continued her fine form finishing 6th overall and 1st v50 in 32.53, Laura Fricker was 8th overall in 33.57 with Hannah Keating 3rd WAC lady in 35.37. Julie Bailiss finished 3rd v50 in 37.57 and Margaret Sills 1st v70
Saturday parkrun on a very frosty weston seafront saw the second Championship race of the weekend, the icy surfaces meant times were all affected as people stayed safe. Matt Wheeler finished 3rd overall and 1st v50, Kev Bale was 4th overall and 2nd SM with Paul Baker 3rd WAC finisher. Rob Osment finished 3rd v40.
Nia Davies followed up her prom run with 2nd lady overall and 1st v50 followed by Sam Buzza 2nd SF and Julie Bailiss 3rd WAC runner and 2nd v50
Sunday saw Michelle Fryer take part in the Portsmouth Coastal marathon finishing a great 5th lady overall in a new pb of 3.38.23

Prom run cancelled races re-scheduled
The 2 missing prom runs that should have taken place in October and November have now been re-arranged for the 5th of January 23 and the 30th of March 23. If you have entered the series, you will automatically be entered for these events
Club Championship
John Hinchliffe is currently working on the results position following the December prom and recent parkrun. When the latest detail is posted it will include any marathon points that you may have for 2022 and will also show the position with your ‘max counting races’ per category.
Please take a few minutes to check this carefully to see that all your races have been included and that you correct score, for each race is shown (please let John know if there are any omissions or queries)
In view of there only being 7 prom runs in 2022 we have agreed that points for the re-arranged Oct race (now on 5/1/23) will count in the 2022 result. This means that there are still 2 events to take place in the 2022 championship.
