Weekly forecast

This week is forecast to remain mild, dry on Monday but then wet each day. A moderate to fresh westerly wind will bring light rain or showers at times on most days with a heavier period of rain with gusty winds on Wednesday morning. The forecast shows max 9 to 11 and minimum 4 to 9 until Friday.

Road race results

Thursday saw the February prom runs on a very wet night. Many thanks to all the organisers and marshals for turning out again in such conditions. It was wet but as it was warm with little wind some excellent performances were recorded from 32 WAC runners.

Darren Stacey was 1st WAC man and 1st V40 in 27.39 followed by Chris Selman as 2nd V40 in 28.16 and Kieron Summers in 28.43. Richard Goddard was 1st V60 in 32.45.

Alice Smith was 1st WAC lady third overall and 1st V40 in 31.39 followed by Laura Fricker in 31.43 and Hannah Keating in 33.46. Phillippa Stephens was 1st V50 in 34.49.

Off-Road race results

Sunday saw the Dursley Dozen race take place over twelve miles mainly off-road with a climb of over 1500ft and after the nights rain a very muddy course. Marc Whiting and Alan Taylor finished together in 2.01.52 with Alexis Wiseman finishing in 3.32.

Information and help needed.

Club record section of website.

If you have not already looked at the club record section of the website it is worth a visit after all the work that has now been completed on it (members/club records). The entire history of members race times has now been updated to show the age of the member at the time of each performance and this is now displayed by overall or by gender in 5-year age bands. So, if you want to know which lady aged between 55 and 59 has run the fastest marathon you can quickly see that it was Helen Diamond in 4.11.42 at London last year.

As you can imagine there are 10’s of 000’s of results and of course we do not know if there are any of your results missing. If you think that you have run a faster time for any race that should be appearing in the age category whilst being a member of Weston AC, then please drop us a mail or DM with details of the race/date and your time and we will check and update as appropriate.
