Weekly forecast

 

The forecast this week shows the extreme heat leaving us and the weather from Tuesday onwards returning more to normal. Tuesday onwards will see max temperatures 20 -22 and minimum night temperatures of 14 – 16. A mainly westerly wind going from gentle to fresh in strength with sunny intervals and light rain showers forecast at times.

 

Road race results

 

Tuesday saw Chris McMillan, Will Fuller and Kieron Summers take part in the latest event of the Rose 4-mile race series. Chris finished second overall in 22.01, Will fifth overall in 20.20 and Kieron 17th and 1st V45 in 21.58

 

Friday night saw a championship race the Nailsea Beer and Banger 10k take place in a starting temperature of 31 degrees. The 50 or so Weston runners all coped well with the unprecedented conditions with everybody being safe, whilst Weston runners won both the men’s and lady’s races. Chris McMillan was 1st overall in 33.01, Will Fuller was 2nd overall in 33.20, Kieron Summers 4th overall and 1st V40 in 36.00, Chris Selman 5th overall in 36.06 and Kevin Bale 6th overall in 36.34. Susan Duncan was 1st lady overall in 39.52, Katie Gormley 2nd WAC lady in 44.45 with Hannah Keating 3rd WAC lady in 46.53. Sian Roberts was 1st LV50 in 49.02

 

The overall results still need a bit of sorting and Championship points will be posted when the result has been finalised.

Multi Event results

 

Sunday saw Rachel Vincent take part in the Thames marathon swim. The marathon swim is 13K and split in to 4 sections with competitors having to get out of the water at 3 locks along the route from Henley to Harlow. Rachael finished in 4 hrs 44 min 49 secs

The next club social event is next Saturday morning 20th August.

 

Clarence Capers, Coffee, and Crispy Bacon

Runs will begin at 8am from the park before returning to Clarence Park for bacon rolls, tea, or coffee. Please show ‘going’ on the facebook event or send a mail to Georgie to confirm.

 

We are intending to enter teams in the 6 and 4 stage relays taking part in Sutton Park, B’ham on the 24/9/22. We can enter a number of teams in this race so if you wish to be considered can men, please drop a message/mail to Kieron Summers and ladies drop a message/mail to Sheryl Selway.

 

The prom run and Mendip muddle races are now both open for entries with links via the website or directly via Race Nation.

 

The Christmas Cracker 10k will be taking place on the 4th of December this year with entries planned to open on 1/9/22. We will again be running a 10-week beginners’ course to tie in with the race and this will commence on Monday 26/9. More detail will follow shortly, and coaches/leaders approached to help etc. but if you have any family/friends/colleagues who has been showing an interest in running now is the time to get talking to them.

 

The next Championship race is the Crook Peak cake race on Wednesday this week that Wac help organise. The race starts at 7.00 entries are on the night only (£7) with last entry at 6.45 FROM THE White Hart at Cross

Championship 2022

 

The Championship race list on our website has been updated with the deletions and addition of the TACH Keynsham Dandy.

 

The latest points position are now on the website.

(Please find this by looking at the website/races/handicap races and clicking on handicap results 2021 202. Then look at the tabs along the bottom of the sheet for 22 championship and marathon 22 results)

Aspire Events posted on Friday 12/8 that they have gone into administration. If you have entered any of their races the message did not currently indicate that there is any chance a refund. Events may be picked up by another company but no indication of this at present.

 

The Monday night TWAC session 15/8 is the ‘Fun on the Knoll’. Meet Red Cow – Brent Knoll at 6:50, there will be group warm up to the top of the Knoll then intervals around the top at your pace. See TWAC fb group for full detail and W3W address.

Remember Tuesday sessions are now at HUTTON MOOR

 

This week’s Rep/interval session on Tuesday the 16th of August meet 6.50 for 7:00 on the field at the rear of Hutton Moor. Sheryl, Carol, Nick, Jason, and Jim will take the sessions.

Session suitable for all abilities.

 

The Wednesday swim sessions at Burnham-on-Sea pool. These sessions have now taken a break for August next sessions will start 7/9. The sessions need to be booked and paid for – please email Margaret and Charlotte at westonacmultisports@gmail.com

 

Thursday – Groups runs from Hutton Moor. Meet car park 6.50 this week’s route will be Hills.

Saturday sessions 8.00am – Saturday’s session will take a break for August next session will be 3/9 – suitable for all abilities.

We have now had a yellow kit delivery so have full size selection available. New members can pick up their kit after training on Tuesday night at Hutton, come along at about 7.45/8.00 and find Jim Wotton. If you cannot get to HM let Chris Loach or Jim Wotton know and we will see what we can do. Ladies kit comes in sizes 8, 10, 12 etc.
