Weekly forecast
This week promises another unsettled period with the forecast still being rather mixed.
After a wet and windy Monday, we are promised another cold Tuesday and night and then a more constant period with light rain and sunny spells and moderate to light west to south westerly winds. Temps will be 7 to 12 in the day and 1 to 7 at night.
Off-Road race results
Saturday 11th March saw Chris McMillan and Susan Duncan represent Avon and Somerset by taking part in the UK Inter-Counties Cross Country which took place at Prestwold Hall, Loughborough. The bad weather unfortunately affected the number of team members from the south-west who made it to the event but that did not stop Susan from finishing 171st in a time of 38.45 and Chris finishing 44th in a time of 40.11 just 3 mins behind the winner.
Last Saturday 4th March new member Roz Peacock completed her first Ultra by taking part in the green man Ultra 30 (the Green Boy) along with Simon Drury. Simon finished 9th overall in a time of 5.00.14 followed by Roz who was 4th lady in 5.00.53
Road race results
Sunday 12th saw 2 WAC members take on the Championship race the Humdinger half marathon. This was the second running on the revised course which now has 1650 feet of climb the majority of which is in the second half with the last hill at about 12 miles. Results not out yet but Stuart Diamond finished 8th in 1.39 and Helen Diamond finished 5th lady in 2.07.
Sunday saw Hannah Keating continue her marathon preparation by taking part in the Chippenham 10-mile race finishing 4th in her age category in a time of 1.14.43.
Sunday also saw 3 WAC ladies travel to Bath to take part in the Relish Running
Two-Tunnels 10k race. After running in the Burnham parkrun, and then running a total of 20 miles getting back to Weston on Saturday Katie finished the Sunday race in 45.28 for 4th lady in a field of 350. Sam Lovell finished in 1.16.10 followed by Lindsey Clifford in 1.16.54
Multi Event results
Today saw one of the years’ first multi discipline events the Forest of Dean Sprint Duathlon with a 5k run 40k bike and 5k run. Lizzie Henden, Kat Louise, Jeremy Chappel, and Paul Cousins took part but we cannot see results out yet.
If we have missed any results, please let us know so that we can share them.

Prom run Thursday 16th March.
The races on the 16/3/23 are still open for entries on Race Nation but please remember entries will close at 9.00pm on the 14/3/23 and there will be no entries on the day.

TWAC
The Monday TWAC session this week 13/3/23 will meet at 6.45 at the Uphill boatyard car park – session is ‘How far Uphill is too far’ and will be group runs – Approx. 90 mins run. Please see TWAC FB for more detail.
The Wednesday swim sessions at Burnham-on-Sea pool re-started 4/1
The next block of sessions now need to be booked and paid for and payment for the next 10 sessions (starting 1st Feb) becomes due. Numbers limited so please pay a soon as you can to reserve your place.
Wednesday evenings 20:20 – 21:30 Burnham on Sea pool. £55 for 10 sessions (£32.50 for 5 if work takes you away).

We now have the March code for the 10% discount and free postage on orders from Sportsshoes (min order value £50). This code is on the WAC members social fb page for WAC member use only. Please ask Jim, Helen, or Julia if you do not access to fb and wish to put in an order with them. (NB Now excludes Brooks shoes)
We currently have a full set of the yellow club kit sizes available. New members can pick up their kit after training on Tuesday night at the seafront. Come along at about 6.50 or 7.45/8.00 and find Jim Wotton. If you cannot get to the seafront let James or Jim Wotton know and we will see what we can do. Ladies kit comes in sizes 8, 10, 12 etc.

Thursday – March 16th Prom Run – HQ bay café Tropicana, seafront.
No runs from Hutton Moor on Prom run night.
Saturday AM session – 8.00am Meet point TBC session to be taken by Jason or Sheryl – suitable for all abilities.
