Weekly Update 11/12/22
December Prom run Thursday 15th
It seems to have been a long time since the Sept Prom run but this Thursday sees the second race in the 22/23 series. Race entries are available until 9pm on Tuesday the 13th but please remember no entries on the day. The forecast is currently 0 degrees at 7.00pm (feels like -4) so watch for any announcements from the Race Director and dress for the conditions.
Weekly forecast
The forecast for this week shows that we are staying with freezing night temperatures with the first real change not until next Sunday (18th) There will be light cloud cover with sunny intervals and more sun on Thursday. A moderate to gentle breeze will give maximum daytime temperatures of 1 to 5 and min night-time temperatures of -3 to 0 degrees.
Road race results
The weather put paid to 2 races on Sunday the Championship 10-mile race at Hullavington and the DB Max Westonbirt 10k.
The weather though did not affect 2 of our members who recorded memorable pb’s this weekend.
Chris McMillan travelled to the highly rated Telford 10k and set a new pb of 31.27 taking 42 seconds off his previous best time, this race had over 550 runners under 40 minutes. Bill Green took on the Dorney Lake half on Saturday and set a new pb of 1.31.49 taking over 60 secs off his time and finishing 2nd MV50 in the process.
Kirsty Dearing completed her medal a month challenge for 2022 by running the Severn Bridge 5-mile race on Saturday finishing in 45.38

London marathon ballot
Thanks to the people who have sent confirmation of entry and of previous London running or not this week. We are still awaiting 7 of the names mentioned last week to provide confirmation of entry and whether they have run London.
The draw will take place at the Prom run on the 15/12
Next Championship Race
The parkrun at Weston Marine parade 17/12 will be one of the Championship miscellaneous category races

Tuesday 20th December!! Christmas Lights and a festive beverage. Any wearable lights optional
Runs suitable for everyone – prizes for those who find the most festive items on their route – trees, lights, Santa’s……!! You will be provided with an item list to check off and will need to provide photographic evidence of said object! Team names desirable!!
Run will start at the Bay café at 7.00pm and end on the seafront. Please see the event on Weston AC Social FB and show if you are going. If you are not on FB, send Georgie Pink a message – so far, we have 61 going.
Clevedon Boxing Day race
The Clevedon race is open for entry, and we recommend that you enter before the day to avoid the queues. The cost is £10 to any WAC runners (ARC licence)
Thornbury Riverbank Rollick
The Riverbank Rollick race 15/1/23 will form part of the 2023 Off-road championship.
Thornbury have just confirmed that the race is now full. They will be operating a waiting list.
The Monday TWAC session 12/12 will meet at 6.50 at the bottom play area Ashcombe park. The session is named ‘Hangover Hill’ and will be an interval session with everybody staying together for 10 reps. – see TWAC fb group for full detail and W3W address.
The Wednesday swim sessions at Burnham-on-Sea pool re-started 14/9. The sessions need to be booked and paid for – please email Margaret and Charlotte at westonacmultisports@gmail.com
We now have the December code for the 10% discount and free postage on orders from Sportsshoes (min order value £50). This code is on the WAC members social fb page for WAC member use only. Please ask Jim, Helen, or Julia if you do not access to fb and wish to put in an order with them.
We currently have a full set of the yellow club kit sizes available. New members can pick up their kit after training on Tuesday night at the seafront. Come along at about 6.50 or 7.45/8.00 and find Jim Wotton. If you cannot get to the seafront let Chris Loach or Jim Wotton know and we will see what we can do. Ladies kit comes in sizes 8, 10, 12 etc.
