Weekly forecast
After a very warm Sunday night, Monday stays warm before the temperatures return to normal for the time of year by Thursday. Monday will be sunny with Tuesday and Wednesday dry with sunny periods. Thursday is forecast to be wet with Friday back to sunshine and showers. A moderate westerly breeze through the week will give max temperatures 19 to 24 and min temperatures 11 to 16.
Road race results
On Saturday evening 10/8 Steve Lovell had the opportunity to run the Olympic marathon as part of a mass participation event called Marathon Pour Tous. Steve said it was an incredibly challenging route, but he made the most of the opportunity stopping for photos etc. finishing in 3:49.
Katie Gormley ran the Lightning Bolt 10k on Sunday finishing in 45.50. Daren Stacey and Paul Cousins acted as pacers at the event.
Dawn Kinghorn travelled to Solihull to complete her first half marathon race of the year finishing in 2.15.30 in the very warm conditions.
Off-Road race results
Susan Duncan and Rachael Vincent took part in the latest Somerset series race on Wednesday the Haselbury trail 10k. Susan was 1st lady overall in a time of 46.16 and Rachael was 2nd V55 in 56.37. Susan currently leads the female series standings with only 7 points from 5 races completed. (Your lowest score from 8 races counts)
Multi Event Results
Rachael Vincent took part in Thames Marathon 9km swim today, swimming from Hambledon Lock to Marlow. Swimmers exit the water twice to bypass weir/lock.
Rachael had an excellent result in the equivalent swimming version of a marathon finishing 5th lady & 1st in category (56-64), chip time 2:48:33 includes exit/entry at locks/weir.

2024 Championship
Details of the 2024 championship structure and races have previously been announced and are shown on the website under members/2024 Championship.
The races for August and September are:
14/8 Crook Peak Off Road
26/8 Baltonsborough 5 Short Road
1/9 Bridgwater Long Road
The forecast for Wednesday 14th is currently good. WAC will be helping with the finish Of the Crook Peak race again this year and all proceeds go to charity so do not forget to put the race in your diary. Promise of cake as always too.
TWAC
Evening session for Monday the 12th of August is ‘Run from the Stacey’s place’.
All meet at Pete & Rachel’s house at 6.50pm for social group runs around Weston woods and Sand Bay depending on which group you run with.
There will be 4 groups at a pace to suit everyone. TWALKers welcome
Then it is back to Pete & Rachel’s for hot dogs and a drink.
Meeting – 20 all Saints Road, Weston Super mare, BS23 2NN.
Kit – suitable clothing for weather, trail shoes and water.
Drinks – coffee, squash etc provided anything stronger, BYO.
This will be a fun night, do not miss it.

Tuesday Reps/Intervals
This week 13/8 with there will just be one effort session. It will be a session in Ashcombe park with Approx 30 minutes of effort.
Session will be suitable for everyone all abilities.
We will meet at Hutton Moor at 6.50 as usual on the far side of the carpark, then do a warm-up run of 800m or so to the park.
The Wednesday swim sessions at Burnham-on-Sea pool are taking the summer break. Sessions will start again from 4/9/24.
The sessions are suitable for beginners to seasoned triathletes, injured runners – develop your aerobic capacity and muscles you didn’t know existed
Sessions starting from 4/9 can be booked now in blocks of five (£32.50) or ten (£55.00) ad hoc PAY as you GO (£6.50) sessions occasionally available, for PAYG – please ask if there’s space prior to session
