Weekly forecast
This week starts with gentle westerly winds on Monday and Tuesday followed by a change to moderate southerly winds for Wednesday to Friday. There will be light rain on Tuesday with showers and sunny intervals on Thursday and Friday. The forecast shows max 10 to 14 and minimum 5 to 10 so warming up a bit.
Road race results
Sunday saw Darren Stacey compete at the Dorney Lake half marathon. The race was run in wet conditions but seemed ideal for those running with Darren finishing third overall, 1st V40 in a new pb of 1.15.51.
Sunday saw a second half marathon take place at Bideford in North Devon with a field of just under one thousand finishers. David Dadds was 1st WAC runner in 1.31.00, followed by Steffania Merrifield in 1.57.42, Sarah Wheatley in 2.08.48 and Kate Rossiter in 2.25.06.
Sunday also saw Nia Davies take part in the popular Stoke stampede 10k event with over five hundred entries. Nia finished fifth lady, 2nd V50 in 42.47.
Off-Road race results
Sunday saw Sarah Harris take part in a Winding Paths event the Grand Canal Canter marathon. This event takes part entirely along the towpath of the canal and goes from Tiverton to Sampford Peverell and back twice. Sarah completed the 26.4 miles in 5 hrs 4 minutes and 8 seconds finishing in 28th place.
Suart Diamond took part in the half marathon on the same course and finished a very creditable second overall and 1st V55 in 1.31.47.

No races that we are aware of this week.

AGM date
The 2024 AGM will take place on the 11/4/24 at Priory school at 7.00pm. Further detail will be sent by email shortly.
2024 Championship
Details of the 2024 championship structure and races have previously been announced and are shown on the website under members/2024 Championship.
Following the postponement of the Humdinger there will be a replacement half added to the long road category. The replacement will be the Bristol half on the 19th of May. It was recently announced that there would be a 10% discount for Great Series runs for EA affiliated members – this may still be available.
The dates for a number of races have now been confirmed as: Clevedon 10k 11/6, Nailsea Beer and Banger 28/6, Yeovilton 5k 10/7, Herepath half 3/11.
The races for March, and April are:
23/3 Berkeley 20-mile Long Road (Race now full)
1/4 Shapwick Bunny Off-Road (Entries now open)
4/4 Prom Run Short Road

It has been 2 months since Paul Bird arranged the last Play Station, so this Monday it is back on.
Suitable for anyone at any pace Walkers can join the Twalking group as well.

Tuesday Reps/Intervals
There will be two organised reps/interval session this Tuesday 12/3/24 –
Session one
10 x 2min 30secs (As 2min rpe 5/6 then then pick up pace for last 30secs rpe 7/8)
75sec rolling recovery between intervals.
Second session.
10 x 600m
Both sessions for all abilities
All meet at the shelter between the Trop and Revo at 6.50 for 7.00pm start.
The Wednesday swim sessions 20.20 to 21.30 at Burnham-on-Sea pool
Over winter is the ideal time to brush up and develop your swimming technique, ideal prep for next season. Suitable for beginners to seasoned triathletes, injured runners – develop your aerobic capacity and muscles you didn’t know existed
Sessions can be booked in blocks of five (£32.50) or ten (£55.00) ad hoc PAY as you GO (£6.50) sessions occasionally available, for PAYG – please ask if there’s space prior to session

Monday TWAC session this week meet 6.50 at Woodspring Priory car park.
Tuesday Rep/interval session. Meet at the shelter between Trop and Revo at 6.50 for 7.00 start. See above for session detail.
Wednesday – Swimming sessions Burnham poolside 20.20 – See above.
Thursday – Group runs from Hutton Moor at 6.20 for 6.30 start. Meet in the meeting room on the first floor inside Hutton Moor. The route this week will be the Club Circuit.
Saturday 8AM session – See WAC social for confirmation of meeting place and time later in the week.
