Weekly forecast
The first of September marks the start of meteorological autumn and the weather forecast this week seems to bear that out. The wind will be gentle to light variable with light rain showers or longer periods at some time most days. Max temperatures 19 to 22 and min temperatures 10 to 13.
Road race results
Bank holiday Monday saw the Baltonsborough 5 road race take place with 4 WAC members running the latest Championship and Somerset series race. Susan Duncan was 3rd lady overall and 1st V35 in 33.17, followed by John Davidson in 33.34, Richard Goddard 2nd V60 in 34.25 and Rachael Vincent in 40.17.
Sunday saw the Bridgwater half take place another one of both the Championship and Somerset series events.
Kieron Summers finished 1st V50 in 1.1.16.58, followed by Matt Wheeler 3rd V50 in 1.26.48, Simon Hall in 1.28.47, John Davidson in 1.32.12, Nia Davies 2nd V50 in 1.33.14, Stuart Diamond in 1.33.57, Richard Goddard 1st V60 in 1.37.55, George McCallum in 1.37.56 and Helen Diamond in 1.56.49.
Sunday also saw the Cheltenham half marathon take place with a field of over 3000 runners. Susan Duncan was 1st WAC runner and 1st V40 in 1.27.51 followed by Michelle Fryer in 1.38.40 Yvonne Rogers in 1.45.22 and Jacqui Cashmore in 2.10.56. Bill Green was 1st WAC man in 1.31.26 followed by Alan Wilcox in 1.42.32 well supported by Paul Cousins in 1.43.51 and Andy Galey in 1.56.48 acting as pacers.
Kirsty Dearing ran the 10k event at the Cheltenham event finishing in 1.00.18
Rob Robertson and Marc Robinson ran the London Big Half on Sunday with Rob finishing in 1.28.19 and Marc Robinson in 1.55.03.
Lindsey Clifford and Phil Brett ran the Cardiff 10k finishing in 1.32.57 and 1.00.41 respectively

No results that we are aware of this week.
Multi Event Results
Sarah Weare completed the Wedmore 40/30 charity cycle finishing in 5.43.40.

Prom Run, Xmas Cracker and Muddle are open for entries
The Prom run and Junior prom runs together with Xmas Cracker and the Mendip Muddle are all open for entry on the Race Nation website. Links to the entries are also via the WAC website for the series and single race entry for both the 5-mile and junior runs.
The first prom runs are on the 12/9 this year so only 1 week on Thursday. Please get your series entries completed early to help with the preparation for number allocation on the night.
Do not forget there will be no entries for the 5-mile race on the night and online entries will close at 9.00pm on 10/9/24.

Doynton Hard Half
With many club members having run this race before Emersons Green Running Club wanted to let us know that the Doynton Hard Half Marathon on the 2nd of February 2025 is open for entries from 1st September 2024 at 7pm and have sold out every year so far.

The TWAC Play Station session is back on 2/9/24 with loads of fun on the Play Station.
This is perfect for any pace or ability and great for anything for which you are training.

Tuesday Reps/Intervals
This week 3/9 with there will 2 effort sessions taken by Nick and Jim.
First session on Hutton Moor field – Focus : leg speed and arm drive
Warm up followed by :
10 x 2 1/2 mins with a 30secs pick up (as 2 mins rpe 5/6 – 30 secs rpe 7/8)
Rolling recovery 75 secs .
Second session on offer meet at Hutton moor car park at 6.45 then run to Ashcombe park for hill reps.
Both sessions for all abilities
Wednesday Swimming
The Wednesday swim sessions at Burnham-on-Sea pool are currently taking the summer break and will start again 4/9/24.
The Wednesday night swims in Burnham starting 4/9/24 are now full so a waiting list is in operation. Please message Margaret before transferring any £££. There are limited spaces left for the last 5 sessions. Priority will be given to those who have booked for the first 5 and wish to extend for the full 10. The next payment block of 10 starts on Wed 13 November 2024
The sessions are suitable for beginners to seasoned triathletes, injured runners – develop your aerobic capacity and muscles you didn’t know existed
Sessions starting from 4/9 can be booked now in blocks of five (£32.50) or ten (£55.00) ad hoc PAY as you GO (£6.50) sessions occasionally available, for PAYG – please ask if there’s space prior to session
