Weston AC is affiliated to the British Triathlon Federation (BTF) and as such provides club members an opportunity to join the BTF at a discounted rate.
BTF membership provides many benefits including reduced race entry fees, retailer discounts and insurances, further information can be found at www.britishtriathlon.org
If you would like tips on how to get into triathlon, advice on training or what to expect at a big event, why not join in the discussion at the WAC Triathlon section’s Facebook group.
The Bicycle Chain on Aiscombe Way are always willing to give advice regarding equipment for bikes. Also, Weston AC members benefit from a 10% discount on production of their membership card. If you would like a membership card, please contact the membership secretary.
As Weston AC is primarily a running club, this provides plenty of opportunity to train alongside other members and benefit from the wealth of coaching knowledge. Details of sessions can be found on the homepage.
As for swim and bike training, Triathlon training can be a solitary affair due to each triathlete’s individual commitments and time constraints. However, there are informal groups who get together to train at different times during the week. Arrangements for these groups can be fluid, so I recommend that club members use the WAC Triathlon Facebook group to organise sessions.
In general, there are groups which cycle on a Saturday morning, swim in the pool on a Monday evening and open water swimming groups meet up during the summer months when the water temperature has increased.
Weston AC’s all new triathlon championship will be run throughout 2021 and then any amendments will be discussed during the winter.
The club championship can be found here.
