The Dave Jones Prom Series Race for December
Welcome to the official December Race in the 2023/24 Series review.
With the Weston Icescape still open at the Tropicana, it was another 3 lap route for the Prom Race out and back to the slipway, to avoid any conflict with the event.
There was a cold wind on the route this night, but it did not deter the 224 Adults finishing in the Main 5 miler race and 16 hardy Juniors for the One Mile event.
Well done to you all for braving the conditions in the last Prom before Christmas.
Callum Moore (Great Western Runners) has now made it four firsts in a row with a ‘slightly’ slower time of 27:00, with Jack Richardson of Clevedon AC in second place just 29 secs behind and Tom Day, all the way from Keswick AC, coming in a close third with a time of 27:36.
WAC’s own Darren Stacey coming home in 7th overall place, with a faster time of 28:02 from last month and again first MV40 overall.
Hannah Green (Bristol & West AC) was first Female home in overall 33rd place in a time of 31:27, with Kelly Dicks (Great Western Runners) as second Female coming close behind in overall 36th place and a time of 31:43. Penny Guess (Southville Running Club) was right behind Kelly with a 31:52 third Female time and 37th overall.
WAC’s first Female was again Laura Fricker with a time of 32:04 as 5th overall Female and in overall 41st position (again!)
Well done again to all the Junior runners. Stan Barker remains the dominant Junior runner in the Junior One Mile distance finishing faster then last month with a 5:09 in the 7-11 category, with the first female Amelia Cooke (7-11) coming in a fine 4th overall in a time of 6:07.
Well Done to Heath Hughes Davies again finishing in 5th place overall but first R6 category with a faster than last month 6:14 time.
Elizabeth Salter was first Female R6 finisher with a time of 08:00 and Serena Cook not far behind with a time of 8:46.
These Juniors stay strong and are getting faster. Well done to all of them.
Thank you to all the organisers and marshals at tonight’s prom, always providing the runners with some good encouragement, despite the somewhat challenging conditions.
Congratulations to all finishers. MERRY CHRISTMAS and enjoy the time of the Season until January’s Prom.
Well Done to you all for your great efforts.
