CLUB HISTORY

Weston AC was formed in the mid-seventies when running and athletics in Weston was virtually non-existent except for that taking place in schools who were doing a good job producing a high standard of athlete.

A Mile for Liam

A mile time trial to raise money for the Liam Shepherd Foundation.

Sadly Liam died suddenly and unexpectedly in his sleep aged 11 in March 2021.

Liam used to come and run the junior prom and it was suggested that we do something to remember him and raise money.

So the Club set up a mile time trial and asked for donations of £2 each to enter. All money raised will be matched by the club.

And Wow – what a turn out. 41 members ran this and contributed generously.
The grand total in the plastic tub is £167.50.
As Jim has agreed to the club matching what you all donated, we can confirm a total raised of £335. Awesome work everyone.
EDIT – More donations are coming in so we will have a revised total for you all at some point. If you wish to donate, we will have a collection at the Awards night and at the next Prom run.

Martin Toleman

We have had the sad news that former club member Martin Toleman passed away on Thursday 22/12/22.
Martin was a founder member of Wyvern Road Runners when they were formed in 1987 and was Chief Marshal for the first Xmas Cracker race held in December 1988. Martin had not been running too much recently but was an integral part of the Cracker Committee from 1988 until this year. He worked with the set-up team for 12 hours most race days often being the first to start and last to finish.
I am sure that you will all wish to join in passing on condolences from the club to his family and friends.
More details about the funeral arrangements will be posted when known.

New Races added to WAC Prom Series 2022-2023

Please be advised that due to the SEE Monster extension, we were unable to operate the October and November Prom Races safely, so therefore the two races scheduled for October/November 2022 were cancelled.
New Dates for next year have been added to this Series as below:

30th March 2023

Weston AC Mendip Muddle 2022

Well done to everyone who ran the Mendip Muddle 2022 this Sunday 16 October, and thank you to everyone who helped put on the race.
